I am an enthusiastic and highly motivated Qualified Teacher and over the last 13 years, I have successfully run my own private tutoring business. This caters to students of a range of ages and abilities, as I offer: 11+ familiarisation, GCSE English Language and Literature exam preparation (iGCSE, Edexcel & AQA), ESOL, EAL, and Functional Skills English and Maths. I have also taught secondary History, Geography and Religious Education. Additionally I can offer problem solving and critical thinking skills, in one to one or small group sessions.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught individuals across a range of age groups, from 8-18+, drawn from a variety of backgrounds. My initial teacher training was completed whilst working full time at Peterborough Regional College delivering GCSE English, Functional Skills English and Maths, ESOL, employer sponsored qualifications (including Health and Safety) and deputising for absent colleagues in a range of subjects across the broader curriculum. Within internal and Ofsted graded observations my lessons were consistently graded outstanding with reference made to the effective learning environment created and my strong classroom management skills. I have also taught English at the local Grammar School and worked as an English cover supervisor. Additionally, I have worked on the National Tutoring Programme at a local Academy, supporting students with additional needs, ESOL or who have fallen behind in their studies after the pandemic to allow them to access the curriculum in a fair manner.

Tutoring Approach

I take a nurturing approach to study with a calm and gentle manner. All lessons are tailored to individual needs and I have extensive experience working with SEN students.
