** Doctorate in Physics ** Experienced tutor **
I have always found improving a student's knowledge, understanding and confidence in a subject to be very rewarding, and in combination with my enthusiasm for science and maths, I believe my lessons are engaging and enjoyable for the students as well!

Tutoring Experience

I have tutored a wide range of students (online and face-to-face) in maths, physics and chemistry at KS3, GCSE. A-Level and NVQ, and all my students achieved or exceeded the grades they were aiming for.
In addition to tutoring:
- I delivered physics lessons during a teaching internship at a secondary school.
- I took on multiple teaching roles during my undergraduate and PhD at the University of Manchester:
--- I took part in a Peer Mentoring scheme, to provide academic help and advice to peers
--- I delivered undergraduate tutorials
--- I was a teaching assistant for undergraduate programming courses
--- I have marked undergraduate exam scripts

Tutoring Approach

I believe I am an approachable and patient tutor, and it is important to me to build a good rapport with my students. My approach to tutoring is always student-focused, as every students learning-style is unique, and I always try to adapt my tutoring style to best suit the individual. However, these are the tools that I use universally:
- First to understand the current level of the student and what they want to achieve
- Build a solid foundation of their basic understanding of the subject before covering more advanced material - this is crucial for problem solving in maths and science but often missed in classroom teaching
- Develop problem solving skills of the student so they have the confidence to apply their knowledge in exam situations
