I am a sixty year old retired professional. I have worked in the construction industry, as a technical advisor.

Part of my professional life was to write and deliver Continual Professional Development seminars. This an area of my work life that I enjoyed immensely and was good at.

I have a masters degree in History, a bachelors degree in history, and a certificate in humanities.

The FA trained me to become a referee tutor. My role was to train referees to become better referees through a lesson based training programme.

I was also involved in tutoring for a NVQ in refereeing.

For many years I was a football referee and attained a reasonable standard. I am used to dealing with a very wide range and eclectic mix of people of all ages.

My pastimes are golf, reading, travelling, and expanding my own knowledge of history.

Tutoring Experience

As a tutor working for The FA I was subject to rigorous assessment to ensure that I was providing a first class service to my pupils. Moreover, writing and delivering CPDs had a robust assessment overseen by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). I have worked with a range of people of all ages and capabilities.

Whilst I have not worked within the teaching profession, I have been trained to a high level and understand the process very well.

I enjoy imparting knowledge and watching people grow.

Tutoring Approach

I take a relaxed approach to the lessons but, work within the parameter and pace that we set. The learning process is tailored to meet the individual needs of the pupil and their learning environment. Lesson are based on an assessment of the learning needs and requirements.

I work tirelessly to ensure that the pupil engages with the subject and takes ownership.

I am passionate about learning and assisting pupils to grow and become more confident. I assisted my daughter through her degree as physiotherapist, something I knew nothing about, but managed to guide her through the essay writing process to achieve her ambitions.
