I am a qualified linguist, translator, interpreter, and ESL teacher with 10-year experience. I am also a member of SATEFL (The Scottish Association for the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language).
I have a high degree of empathy with students, which is strengthened by my experience as a volunteer teacher
I have 10-year experience as an English teacher on various levels and of various fields (ESP) and age groups:
Focus on pronunciation
Preparation for IELTS Speaking Part
Chief Examiner (English Department) in a school of the culture of entrepreneurship in tourism
Creator and tutor of a course on presentation skills and elocution for both beginner and professional tour guides
English teacher and activity organizer for 10- to 13- year-old children of various nationalities
Teacher of Medical English for nursing in Stirling School of English and in one of the biggest hospitals in Eastern and Central Europe with a strong international reputation
Experience with a beginner student with dyslexia
Experience with both large groups and individual groups of 1-2
I carried out extensive research into online teaching and accents as part of my MSc CALL degree. I created an online pronunciation course, focusing on the problems various speakers have when speaking.
Now with learning Chinese, spending time with Chinese speakers, learning their culture and teaching them English, I understand what difficulties Chinese speakers have when learning English.
I incorporate teaching various learning strategies into my teaching methodology (this was also part of my research). Having work experience as a tour guide as well, I have excellent communication skills and I am more than comfortable when communicating with people of different nationalities and I am able to listen and respond to their needs.
My main focus is pronunciation, speaking and communication skills, and preparation for IELTS Speaking Part,
but I also offer lessons on linguistics and the English language in general (depending on your needs).
I am happy to deliver lessons via Skype, Wechat, or any other online communication platform.
