I have graduated in Biomedical Science (BSc Hons) at the University of Birmingham and have a Master’s of Research in Public Health from the University of Manchester. I have advanced expertise in oncology, cell biology and epidemiology and thus can provide tutoring from a position of someone who has pursued a research career in science. Recently, I returned to studying as a mature student on a graduate entry medicine course and have thus consolidated my advanced knowledge of biology, biochemistry and statistics. Most of my experience is with the AQA syllabus but I am also open to tutoring with OCR. Additionally to this I can assist with GAMSAT exams and/or medical school interviews.
I have previous experience in high schools working with year 11s to assist them in obtaining the qualifications they need to excel. Over the past 5 years I have worked in clinical research in the NHS, while tutoring GCSE science at the same time. This year I chose to make a career move and have become a mature student studying Medicine.
I have been tutoring GCSE science over the past couple of years and I really enjoy it. I tend to adopt a coaching and mentoring approach to my tutoring to help students become better learners in general. I have a lot of experience teaching all 3 sciences but also have a wealth of research experience - because of this I try to incorporate real world examples into my teaching with the aim of helping students understand how science relates to their life and the world around them. Let me know if any of this sounds good to you and we can arrange a quick initial call.
