Hello!

My name is Alex, I am a medical doctor with a full licence to practice and this academic year I am completing a full time Masters (MA) in Philosophy at King’s College London.

I have tutored for approximately 6 years, and have about 11 years experience working or volunteering with children and young people.
My degrees include: MB BS, BSc (Hons), MSc, AKC. I’ve studied a broad range of subjects including medicine, philosophy and infectious disease epidemiology.

Tutoring Approach

Every student is different and so modify my approach to their needs.
I typically use past exam papers as a basis for teaching, aiming to address any knowledge gaps by identifying areas to improve and then discussing those. It’s especially important to ask guiding questions to help them develop independent problem-solving skills. From my experience, I’ve observed that many students struggle with confidence, particularly when working under timed conditions. By encouraging them to tackle questions themselves, they often realize that their initial instincts are correct, fostering a more self-assured approach to learning.

I also promote independent work throughout the week, encouraging students to bring challenging questions to our sessions. This approach ensures that our sessions remain productive and customized to their individual needs.
