Online Maths and Physics Lessons

Hi,

I have been working as Removed tutor since 2016; first to earn some extra money while studying at university, then to pay for an MSc in Artificial Intelligence, and now to help cover my living expenses during my PhD. I focus on teaching maths (11+, 13+, GCSE, A-level, university admissions tests), physics (13+, GCSE, A-level, university admissions tests), and computer science (GCSE, A-level), but have also taught chemistry, biology, and geography up to GCSE level. My relaxed and friendly approach aims to build confidence in my students. I specialise in rapidly preparing my students for their 11+, 13+, GCSE, and A-level exams.

I have an upper second-class honours MSci in Physics with Theoretical Physics from Imperial College London and an MSc in Artificial Intelligence from City, University of London. I’m currently working towards a PhD in Artificial Intelligence at City, University of London.
I went to Reigate Grammar School for my GCSEs and A levels. During my time at university, I was President of the Snowsports Club and played competitive lacrosse. I now play competitive ultimate frisbee and enjoy bouldering, playing tennis, and skiing.

Tutoring Experience

  • I have been a personal tutor since 2016 both independently and through tutoring agencies. All my students have reached or exceeded their target grades.

  • I have been a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) at City, University of London since 2020 where I have run tutorials for up to 30 university students at a time in modules including Mathematics for Computing (1st-year undergraduate module), Neural Computing (MSc module), Introduction to Python (1st-year undergraduate module). As part of the requirements for becoming a GTA, I achieved an introductory certificate in Teaching in Higher Education.

  • I have worked as a tutoring consultant for BE Education, where I provided expertise on university admission.

  • I taught at WAC Arts College for 9 months during my undergraduate degree. I helped teach one class of around 30 students and one class of four students who required special attention due to behavioural problems.

  • I ran a junior maths club at Reigate St Mary’s primary school for 9 months.

Tutoring Approach

One of the main problems I find students have is a lack of confidence when tackling Maths. My approach to teaching is relaxed, friendly and confidence-building.

I figure out which areas my students are struggling with using their past work and then show them examples on this topic. Questions on an identified topic are tailored to each student allowing us to spend more time on things they need more help to understand. I believe it is vital to teach students how to figure out if they’ve made a mistake in their work. I teach them how to check their answers and then how to correct them as well as general exam techniques.

I also supply notes for GCSE Maths, A-level Maths, A-level Further Maths, GCSE Physics and A-level Physics.
