My tutoring style pushes students with a focus on moving outside of their comfort zone to have the greatest possible impact on current working grades. I have a track record of significantly improving students grades and understanding within a short amount of time. I'm keen on setting weekly homework and push students to achieve the best grade they are capable of. I prefer to keep in regular contact with parents/carers to keep parents/carers informed of students' progress and note any concerns or praise I may have.
My students receive an online tracker. Students use this tracker to log all work they do outside of lessons and tuition, which I check each night.
I am happy to travel to students or meet students in a public location. I am also more than happy for parents/carers to attend sessions with students if they wish to and would encourage them to do so.
I have worked as a tutor for 10 years teaching GCSE and A-level Chemistry and Biology.
I have worked with over 100 students over those years many of which moved on to prestigious university's such as Oxbridge and university's abroad.
All of my students progress when working with me, which is shown not only by the feedback I receive but from the significant increase in students grades,
I push my students particularly hard and as a result of this have exceptional expectations both in and out of lessons.
During sessions I push to move through as much content as possible while ensuring students have fully understood a concept, reviewing the application of the concept and testing students, demonstrating their knowledge, understanding and ability to apply themselves to exam style problems.
During the first session I discuss with students and parents/carers the reason for hiring a tutor, identify the specific areas requiring improvement to increase a students academic performance. This information is then used to develop a plan with targets over a specific timeline for students to meet and exceed their goals.
I ask my students to fill in a tracker during the week to monitor the amount of work they are doing outside of lessons, which is then reviewed each session during the first give minutes of a session.
Finally, I contact students during the week to check how they are progressing and if they're having any difficulties.
Despite my high intensity approach to tutoring and high expectations, students welfare is my primary concern during the course of their time working with me.
I of course also set homework between sessions, which is made available for parents/guardians to view, as is the student tracker.
