Head of Spanish in a very succesful grammar school. I am a native speaker , I am from Madrid, Spain and I came to London 15 years ago. I have worked in teaching since I came and I have plenty of experience with students as I am Head of Spanish and also Gifted and Talented coordinator in a secondary school in south west London.
I am flexible to adapt and I really get on well with students as I work with them and I am used to know their needs.
I have been described as a friendly, warm and enthusiastic person who gets very well with young people, therefore students do not take tuition as something tedious and boring.
I am a popular tutor with many happy students and parents! Please contact for further information regarding my availability.
I have a good record of excellent results in my key exam groups due to having a deep knowledge and understanding of what the exam boards require in the new specifications. I obtained this good knowledge as I became an external examiner to know first hand what is expected from students.
I know very well EDEXCEL and AQA exam boards so I know perfectly how the IGCSE, GCSE and A LEVEL exams are or how the students need to be prepared before their examination. My exam results last year were excellent : 91% achieved 9-7 (old grades a*-a) and 53% of that 91 achieved grade 8-9 (old grades A*-A)
I have plenty of experience helping student boosting their grades and success in their exams which have been proved in the feedback from parents (please see the feedback section). I tailor the lessons according to the students' needs and I teach depending of your child learning style and his/her weakest points. I provide excellent exam techniques that help student to become confident on how to face the exam to be able to aim for the highest marks in GCSE and A level.
I can also provide real materials to reinforce what your child has learned in school or I can introduce new and more elaborated content to boost your child grade to his/her best ability.
I have tutored students from a variety of schools : Alleyn’s Boys, JAGS, LEH, Latymer Upper School, Witgift, Dulwich College, City of London Girls School, UCS Hampstead, King Alfred, Ibstock Place School, Winchester College, Emanuel School, St Paul’s Girls, Putney High School, Kings’ College, Graveney School, Grey Court School, Tiffin Girls School,, City of London Freemens, Nonsuch High School for Girls, Lady Margaret, Esher College, The Grey Coat Hospital school, Wellington College Boarding School, Shrewsbury Day&Boarding School, South Hampstead High School, Queensgate Girls and Marlborough College.
All of my lessons have been graded outstanding by Ofsted/ISI. Please do not hesitate to get in touch to discuss your child's educational needs and requirements.
I provide a variety of authentic resources which are included in the hour’s rate.
I tailor the lessons according to the students needs and teach depending of your child learning style. I have plenty of experience differentiating the content to enable students to access it. I have also experience teaching students with any special educational needs such dyslexia or any other cognitive need.
With the recent major overhaul of GCSEs and A Levels, it is a great challenge for schools to cover all the course content in class and prepare students thoroughly for the external examinations. With large class sizes and often a lack of individual speaking practice, pupils can lack confidence and not achieve their full potential in their exams or lessons in school. This overwhelm students and could stress them as they may find they have not had enough time or opportunities to prepare themselves for the Speaking Exam or writing skills.
Students usually feel they are not able to succeed in their examinations, but with motivation and focusing in grammar and other skills needed to be able to achieve a good grade.
Regarding A level, I know perfectly how to help students to obtain the highest scores in their exams as I am an external examiner who marks A level exam for Edexcel and i was marking for AQA in the last 5 years, becoming a Team Leader recently due to outstanding performance. I have attended numerous workshops for films and literature, besides my knowledge obtained from my Journalism degree and Spanish schooling.
A couple of important points to keep in mind when cancelling a lesson:
I am quite flexible to reschedule or cancel a lesson if explained in advance, but I require at least 24hours to cancel a lesson. In the event that the time required is not given, the lesson will be considered as having completed and it will have to be reimbursed.
Lessons during half term holidays and weekends will have an increment of £15 per session.
