Amanda

I am a 35 year old qualified Science (Biology specialism) teacher with 11 years teaching experience. I gained my teaching qualification from Cambridge University in 2011. Following a year off on maternity leave I now teach part time and offer tuition alongside this on evenings and weekends. Being an active teacher is very useful in my role of tuition as I am fully up to date with the changing examinations, exam boards and utilise a wide range of teaching approaches.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked in a variety of teaching roles. My first job as a qualified teacher was as a Teacher of Biology in an 11-18 Grammar school in Lincolnshire. I taught here for 4 years and am now teaching at a school more local to my home in Lincoln. I have also taught in a specialist SEN school and have taught English as a Foreign Language in summer schools. I have worked as a private tutor for many years and have a wide range of experience from supporting students towards entrance examinations, KS3 work and up to GCSE in all Sciences and A Level in Biology.

I have evening availability on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 8pm-9pm and some daytime availability on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays

Tutoring Approach

I aim to prepare students to be fully prepared to access the best possible grades in their examinations alongside adding depth and breadth to their understanding of the course. I am happy to introduce and support various revision strategies and use of exam board materials such as past papers. I like to tutor in a style which supports the learning going on in the classroom and can target specific areas that need focus such as graph skills, answering extended writing questions and context questions. I am an approachable, friendly person and adapt to the learning needs of the student.
