Hi! My name is Amy and I have a passion for languages and teaching. I am currently working for a translation company doing project management and revision but will be doing my teacher training to become a French and Spanish teacher next year.
I have had some fantastic teachers throughout the years, who have shaped my learning experience and made languages fun. I would love to do the same for my own tutees, tailoring my teaching to them in a way that makes Spanish more accessible and fun.
I am doing my PGCE to become a Modern Foreign Languages teacher from September, but I also have had extensive experience working with young people in the past.
I volunteered teaching English in various schools in Peru over a summer at University, with learner ages ranging from 3-16.
I have also tutored English one to one in Spain and worked as a Childminder/English tutor in France.
My approach is to make learning as fun as possible. For example, I have found puzzles like crosswords or memory games to practise vocabulary to be very effective.
I would differentiate the learning based on the student's ability, and prepare the same task at various levels of difficulty so that the student is always learning and progressing without being overwhelmed.
I would also take the student's GCSE exam board into account and tailor learning to be fun, whilst also preparing them for sections of the exam paper (e.g. description of an image, translation, etc.).
