¡Hola! My name is Ana and I am a Spanish teacher working in London. I come from the south of Spain and I am in love with my native language and with all the cultures that make up the Hispanic world. I love reading, learning different languages and traveling.
My bilingualism has granted me the chance to become a language teacher since a very young age. Before and during university, not only would I teach my neighbours and classmates English, but I would also tutor younger students to help them with their Spanish language and literature subjects during secondary school. During my year abroad, I also offered laid-back conversation lessons where I would discuss essential aspects of the Hispanic cultures all around the world with my students.
I studied Spanish Philology at the University of Seville, where I took modules on Linguistics, Spanish Literature and History of Language. Upon completing my degree, I also enrolled in a teacher training course granted by the Instituto Cervantes and the University of Seville, where I learnt how to teach complex aspects of the Spanish language (such as the past and pronouns) to foreign students of all backgrounds.
Since moving to the United Kingdom in September 2019, I have taught students of all levels of Spanish at a language school in Holborn, Central London. Thanks to my knowledge of Spanish linguistics, I have prepared lessons where learning Spanish grammar was key, but I have also focused on improving my student's speaking abilities through interesting, thought-provoking materials. During these uncertain times caused by the spread of Covid-19, I have had to become even more creative and think of new and interesting ways of teaching online, which my students have been enjoying thoroughly.
I prepare and teach personalised topic-based and general Spanish classes to groups, teenagers and individual adults, ensuring use of all language abilities. I design dynamic lessons with a strong presence of cultural knowledge of Spain and Latin America, ensuring that the students can use practical Spanish in real-world applications.
