I live in Kent with my Greyhound, Marj, and have worked in the education sector since 1996 in a variety of roles, including classroom teacher, clerk to school governing bodies and as an educational consultant. I enjoy writing poetry and short stories and Argentine Tango.
After spending 18 years as a classroom teacher in Primary Schools, I began working in 2011 as a tutor, focusing on 7 -11 year olds in English, Mathematics and preparation for the Kent Test and Medway Test. During this time I also worked as a classroom teacher in a school for pupils with behavioural special educational needs. Over the years I have widened my experience and have worked with children from 5 to 16 years.
I believe that every child can achieve and that my role as a tutor is to develop a child's confidence in their ability to learn and succeed in a relaxed atmosphere.
When I begin working with a student I spend time identifying strengths and areas for development and balance sessions so that they have the opportunity to apply their strengths and develop their skills and understanding in areas where they are less confident.
I believe that learning should be fun and strive to make sessions an enjoyable experience.
