Online Maths and English Teacher

I graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2019 with a high 2.1 in History. At school I enjoyed studying a mix of Science and Humanity subjects achieving A*A*A in my A-Levels History, Geography and Maths, and an A in AS Level Biology.

I have been tutoring History, English, Science and Maths since 2015 and taken students from predicted C grade to an A. Since graduating last summer I have worked in customer facing roles and gained experience in establishing relationships with a wide range of people.

I have found that my students are best able to achieve their full potential when they feel comfortable expressing themselves and asking questions about the subject. For me, teaching is a two-way, collaborative process and I pride myself in ensuring my pupils are empowered to do this.

Tutoring Experience

I have been tutoring History, English, Science and Maths since 2015. At school I founded a lunch time peer support session for Mathematics students, which helped dozens of students improve their grades by several tiers. I have taught a broad age range from primary school children to A-Level, as well as in-depth studies in preparation for university applications and interviews. I have two younger brothers who I supported during their GCSEs and A Levels, including helping plan and proof read coursework.

Tutoring Approach

Before lessons I would consult specifications and have prepared some sample exam questions which we could go over. I would collect the relevant academic articles based on the level of knowledge which could be used to both stimulate the student's interest and also present information on the topic in a new form.

The structure of the lesson would be determined by the needs of the student should this be consolidating knowledge or sharpening up exam technique.

Should the student require more than one lesson, homework would be set to consolidate what was learnt during the lesson and set up for the next.
