I offer in person tuition in Maths and English at primary level, and German at GCSE level (AQA syllabus). After a career as a primary school teacher I became a tutor and I am thoroughly enjoying the rewards of seeing my students making progress and gaining confidence. About half of my new students come to me as a result of recommendations from parents of previous students.

Tutoring Experience

I became a personal tutor in 2016. Most of my students have been from year5 or 6, looking ahead to their SATs in Maths and English.
This year I gave lessons to a student preparing for his GCSE German exams. I have a degree in German and Spanish and I love foreign languages.

Tutoring Approach

My aim is to make lessons relaxed and fun as well as productive. My priorities are to help my students feel at ease, and make lessons relevant to their individual needs, interests and personalities. In order to build self-esteem it is essential to assess their needs carefully from the outset, find the gaps in their knowledge and skills, and develop their learning on a firm foundation. I use the National Curriculum as a benchmark at KS2 and the German GCSE AQA syllabus for GCSE German. I have a wide range of resources and activities to enable me to approach learning in a variety of ways. I incorporate plenty of revision and assessment activities throughout the programme of lessons. After each lesson I always take time to give feedback to parents.
