Qualified and experienced MATHS teacher and examiner (Maths A-Level, GCSE and iGCSE specialist), I am now offering tutoring to students preparing to sit their GCSE or A-Level in maths.
My expertise lies in helping students who are already above level 4/5 and aim to reach higher grades - especially students who are aiming for level 7-9 and continue studying maths or further maths at A Level.
At A-Level, I am as effective teaching students who sit on a B/C and need an A/A* as those whoa re on a lower grade and need to increase it.
I am a passionate teacher who decided to become a teacher to help students discover the enjoyment that comes from mastering mathematics.
As a tutor, my priorities are:
1) Fast progress (minimum of 1-2 grade increase in 6 months)
2) Growing confidence, therefore enjoyment and motivation leading to better results.
It is important to me that students build an understanding of the subject over time as their skills develop towards mastery. I am aware that many learners experience math anxiety, a condition that can significantly hinder their ability to make progress in mathematics. I pay particular attention to those students who are affected by this challenge.
Qualified at Master level, I finished my teacher training (PGCE) in 2014 and have taught in secondary schools ever since, as a maths teacher, a head of department, and a maths specialist deployed to other schools to support their maths tehelp them improve their maths teaching and results.
Because I am a GCSE and A-Level examiner, I know how marks are given, what the common mistakes are and which methods tend to be more successful.
I make sure the foundation is solid. I teach in small steps by building on prior learning, I encourage questions if anything is unclear and I don't leave any gaps.
With my in-depth knowledge of the syllabus and past exams for each course I teach, I know where to focus to ensure maximum progress in minimum time.
My students complete exam practice and mock papers on their own so that the time spent with their tutor is dedicated to learning and progressing.
