I am an enthusiastic teacher and have taught GCSE and A level maths and also arithmetic at Primary School. I am a STEM (Science, technology, engineering and mathematics) Ambassador and so I work closely with school children of all ages. I am a School Governor at two schools, one in Crawley and the other in Burgess Hill.
I was a lecturer and later Head of the Mechnical Engineering Department at a Technical College in Ndola, Zambia. I am a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with many years experience in manufacturing, production , design and consulting both here in the U.K. and also in France, South Africa, USA, Mongolia and many other countries.
I have a broad range of experience. My approach is to find out from the students which areas they wish to cover and then tailor my lessons to their requirements. When students provide insufficient information I work with them through their curriculum, finding out where there are gaps which need to be covered. I am very patient and work at the student’s speed, but when necessary encourage them to work faster. I give homework to be completed before the next session. Each lesson includes reviewing and correcting homework and then working on the next topic.
