I am a third-year PhD candidate in Classics at the University of Liverpool. For my research, I focus on praise poetry written in Ancient Greek and dating back to Late Antiquity. These poems are preserved on papyrus , which I had the opportunity to examine under a microscope, during a research stay in Oxford, and translate them into English to make them more accessible to scholars and students. My thesis involves producing a historical, literary, and rhetorical commentary on these papyrus poems, with the aim of investigating the rhetorical strategies used by poets in Late Antiquity. In my free time, I enjoy exploring new cities in England, where I have been living for two years, especially when my friends can join me. I also love going to exhibitions and museums of any form of art!
During my doctoral studies, I have taught several modules at the university as a lecturer and graduate teaching assistant (Graeco-Roman Culture, both Ancient Greek and Latin Grammar, Greek and Roman Literature). Additionally, during my PhD, I spent a research period at the University of Oxford, where I also held seminars for students. Since I was a Master’s student in Classics at the University of Rome La Sapienza, I nurtured my passion for teaching every aspect of Classical Studies and Classical languages, and I engaged in tutoring high school students in ancient languages and culture.
I have teaching experience for College A-levels and GCSEs, which allowed me to develop various teaching strategies tailored to different needs and contexts. I am a calm and approachable person, always willing to meet the student’s needs.
