Maths and Chemistry Lessons in Salford

I am a first year Imperial College London Comp Sci and Maths student. I have been at the bottom of my year and at the top of the year in two grammar schools. Therefore, I believe I know the struggles and hardships of students at every level and can add something to anyone looking for tutoring. Also, as someone who has just left school, the niche parts of my subjects' specifications, past papers, tricks in individual topics etc. are still fresh in my mind and ready to be given to students.

Tutoring Experience

I have ran multiple coding societies and mentored GCSE and AS-level students for 4+ years for free. Both of my GCSE mentees recieved 9s in Maths and Comp Sci (subjects I tutored) and my Y12 students came third and second in their years respectively in Computer Science, Maths and Further Maths.

Tutoring Approach

To start by looking at the big picture of my teaching approach, I implement a two part strategy: analysis and action. I first analyse what the student's strengths and weaknesses are through tests/ talking to the student. I then devise an action plan to effectively work out the weaknesses as quick as possible through topic explanations, summary lessons etc. This is then followed on by getting the student ready for their tests through my personal question bank / past papers and teaching the student how to implement what they have learned in their lessons.
To look inside the lessons, I always start of with a recap of the last lesson and a question from last lesson to engage their active recall, teach the planned topic and end of with questions on what we learned and homework for the next lesson.
However, this is is just a rough guide for how I approach the average student. I believe in personalising the lesson for the student's success so I can implement a plethora of strategies if needed.
