I am a primary school teacher with 21 years experience in the classroom. I live In Nuneaton with my husband, daughter and dog.
I am a passionate primary school teacher of 21 years with experience in both KS1 and KS2 classrooms. I specialised in English during my initial teacher training and have been Maths subject lead for the last 10 years. This has given me access to the mastery approach within maths, where the small steps approach has been extremely successful in terms of children increasing their mathematical repertoire and efficiency. Alongside this, I also ensure that children are fluent in number facts and tables so methods of calculation become easier.
My teaching and learning style is one where prior knowledge is built upon and continually revisited so any gaps in learning are narrowed. During my teaching experiences, I have continually strived to meet the bespoke needs of all that I am delivering to. I also employ strategies of fun and games to deliver key concepts. I am also a firm believer of building good reading habits and I use strategies so that children can infer and deduce, therefore displaying a greater understanding of what they read.
