Online Maths and German Tuition

I created ARB Oxford Tutoring and have experience tutoring Maths and English as a Foreign Language, as well as teaching MFL (German, French, Spanish and Russian) at GCSE and A Level.

As an Oxford graduate with a 1st class degree and an academic award, I understand the value that developing confidence and independent thinking has, and I tailor my teaching approach to emphasise these qualities by using an adaptive probing question style to stretch and challenge each individual and guide them to work out the correct answer or solution for themselves.

Tutoring Experience

I am currently a Spanish teacher with Qualified Teacher Status and a PGCE in teaching Modern Foreign Languages to secondary school age pupils. In schools, I have taught German, French and Spanish and have also conducted exams in Russian.

This means I have vast experience with languages and the MFL curriculum, which is enhanced with exam board marking training, so I will be able to help you improve specific areas that examiners are looking for.

Alongside this, I also have privately tutored Maths and have helped clients achieve the grades they needed to progress to college. I studied Maths at A Level and continued to use statistics in my university and teaching career, meaning it is a subject that is close to me and that I also enjoy teaching.

Furthermore, before becoming a teacher I worked as a Work Coach, so I also have experience helping clients navigate employment-related decisions, and have used this experience in the past to help clients reflect on the careers they are interested in and qualifications that would help them reach their goals.

Tutoring Approach

A typical session will involve a mixture of content input (such as videos or a short presentation), followed by targeted practice questions before progressing to past paper questions. Throughout this process, I will ask guiding questions to promote thinking about the content.

This gradual increase in difficulty ensures a high success rate and supports pupils to make secure progress, while also encouraging independent and critical thinking, which are key skills that colleges and universities are looking for.
