NB: ONLINE SESSIONS. Please note that I am able to offer group and individual online sessions to enable students to maintain the curriculum if they are unable to attend school.
Adaptability, personal focus, and pastoral care and support to bring out the best in all my students are the bases on which my tuition practice are founded. I create a sympathetic and understanding environment around my students which allows them to express themselves fully in their studies. I am a bilingual primary school teacher, fully-qualified in both the UK (QTS) and my native France with extensive classroom experience teaching Maths. Further to this I trained as a Key Stage 2 Specialist and Special Educational Needs teacher in France and have worked in this area in schools in the UK. My experience working with fallen-behind-children has taught me that with a perfectly tailored plan, any student can reach their full potential and thrive. Although the focus of my work is of course helping my students get the best results in their exams, my approach is much more holistic. With each student I work with, I ensure that they get enjoyment and satisfaction from their studies. Once my students realise they actually are good at maths, they start to value themselves more and experience so much more joy and confidence in themselves. I regard it as a wonderful privilege for me to witness this profound shift in attitude as well as results. That is why I am especially passionate about teaching to students who feel no aptitude for nor believe they have any interest in maths. My motto: Everyone can do and can enjoy Maths. My mantra is: Yes, I/you CAN do it.Every child is able to achieve much more than they think possible. As a private tutor I have taught children and teenagers who have fallen behind or are struggling in their learning and have lost their self-esteem and joy.The virtues of private tuition for me are that I can tailor the programme to the specific needs of the student and I can take the necessary time to allow my student to gain a deeper understanding of the subject and of their own qualities. Under my care my pupils achieve better results than they or their parents had expected or hoped for. For me, there is nothing better than the joy of a pupil proud of their achievement.Tutoring ExperienceI have taught in year 5 and 6 in my native France.Since moving to England I have been a supply teacher, a private tutor and SEN teaching assistant, and a maths teacher. I have taught and tutored children of all ages from Reception to Year 11.I o7er individual one-to-one tuition as well as tutoring small classes or groups. I nd that the latter is very useful for students whose parents have elected to home school. My approach for home-schooled students is to engage and work with the parents (and often groups of parents) who have taken this brave step and to understand their ethos and approach and adapt my tuition so that it fits in with the broader aspirations of these parents and their children. Working together we enhance the learning and the experience of learning for such children.
I have a special interest in teaching pupils and students with dyscalculia and make extensive use of concrete material teaching methods. This is a method of teaching which uses physical objects and pictorial representations to help students understand the abstract concepts in maths. It is a key part of modern maths teaching notably the Singapore Method of teaching.

Since moving to England I have been a supply teacher, a private tutor and SEN teaching assistant / maths teacher, teaching children of all ages from Reception to Year 11.
I can offer individual tuition as well as small classes, to reduce individual cost. As well as in school students, I teach home-schooled and and out-of-school students.

Tutoring Approach I see the virtues of private tuition are that I can tailor the programme to the specific needs of the individual student and I can take the necessary time to allow my student to gain a deep understanding of their subject. I follow the programme Teaching to Mastery, the fruit of the collaboration in between Shanghai and Britain. I make extensive use of concrete materials in my teaching, notably base ten material which is a set of small blocks in various sizes designed to allow students to experience the quantity behind numbers. For me, there is nothing better than the joy of a pupil proud of their achievement.
