Hi, my name is Aviral. I am a 3rd year medicine undergraduate at the University of Cambridge with 200+ hours of online tutoring experience. I have a particular focus in science/maths subjects and Oxbridge medicine PS/interview and UCAT preparation.
I have 200+ hours of online tutoring experience combined in the areas I tutor in.
In addition, I have experience across a diversity of age ranges, ranging from primary school students to post-graduate medical applicants. My experience working with children extends to those with developmental difficulties during my time at a children's centre.
My approach to tutoring involves powerpoints, annotated notes and regular testing to check retention. However, I place a focus on independent learning, including note taking and memorisation. Homework often includes taking notes as well as practice questions. This means we can effectively spend time on what students find difficult and develop their own learning skills. Furthermore, it is important to target the syllabus as each board has a different style. An integrated approach is important!
More generally, I teach by showing the student the overview of the topic - the bigger picture - and then going into more detail. It is important to understand the context of information and its purpose in the syllabus so a student can draw links between different ideas. This makes them significantly easier to remember!
I am also able to provide more targeted help, such as with homework or a problematic topic. This ensures the student can target what they need and cover all bases.
