Hello, my name is Belal, and I am currently a medical student at Bart’s and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, with a solid background in both academics and medical school applications. I achieved a UCAT score of 3000 with a Band 2 in the Situational Judgment Test, placing me in the top 4% of my cohort, and I secured A* A* A at A-Level. During my journey to enter medicine, I received four interview offers and three post-interview offers.
In my spare time, I love immersing myself in a good book, especially classic literature such as The Three Musketeers and A Farewell to Arms. There is something timeless about these stories that captivates me, and I enjoy exploring the depth of their characters and themes. Beyond reading, I prioritize staying active through regular exercise such as swimming, which helps me maintain both physical and mental well-being. I also have a creative side and enjoy drawing whenever I get the chance—it is a great way to unwind and express myself. On a lighter note, I have a bit of a guilty pleasure: I am an avid collector of Pokémon cards, particularly drawn to their intricate artwork and the nostalgia they bring.
My proudest achievement is gaining acceptance into medical school, especially given the highly competitive nature of the course. It took me two attempts to get in, so this accomplishment holds special significance for me. I am also proud of climbing Mount Snowdon during my Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition, as well as completing The Count of Monte Cristo—a lengthy book that required dedication to finish.
I have been tutoring students since 2021 across a wide range of subjects. I have experience preparing students for various entrance examinations, including those for schools such as John Lyon School and Merchant Taylors' School, as well as for the 11+, 12+, and 13+ exams. I have also previously tutored students in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics at both GCSE and A-Level. Over the past year, I have expanded my services to include tutoring for medical entrance exams and have organised and conducted mock medical interviews for aspiring medical students.
One of my key strengths is my teaching style, which is highly interactive and student-centred. I create a safe and supportive environment where no question is ever considered wrong, encouraging students to ask questions freely. Patience is central to my approach—I dedicate time to thoroughly address each query and help students identify and overcome their weak points. This not only builds their confidence but also ensures they are well-prepared to tackle challenges independently.
Another strength is my ability to break down complex topics into simpler, more digestible concepts, making them easier for students to understand. I believe this is crucial for effective tutoring, as it helps students grasp material that may initially seem overwhelming.
