Throughout school I enjoyed maths and PE which has carried on throughout my working career. I like to solve maths problems and help children expand their maths knowledge. Maths can be tricky at times but with the right support it can be made understandable and you’ll feel like a lightbulb has switched on in your brain.
I am currently working towards gaining qualified teacher status alongside completing a PGCE. This course means I am working within one school for the majority of the time but I attend training day at numerous schools regularly which allows me to pick up useful tips from many different teachers.
I have worked within schools for the past 9 years. I started as a primary school PE teacher then in the last 4 years I have been working in the classroom helping children. I have been working as a TA and HLTA where I would cover teachers and teach all lessons.
The last 4 years I have worked in every year within school but have worked closely with year 6. I have helped prepare them for SATS which can be a difficult time for children.
When I teach I like to have fun and make the lessons interesting. I find being spoken to for 30 minute then being told to do work for another 30 minutes is boring and hard to concentrate on. So I like to do short bursts of input then short bursts of work to keep the children and myself interested and engaged in the lesson.
