I’ve been teaching since I finished primary school. Both inside and outside academics, helping others learn and achieve is one of the most important things in my life.

My name is Ben, and I’m from America. I graduated in the spring with two degrees from Dartmouth College - an Ivy League School - in Engineering. My thesis was awarded high honors. I served as a Tutor, TA, and Head TA throughout my time in university - spending countless hours helping students with course content and lecturing to the classes.

I am now pursuing a Masters in Engineering at Imperial College London and aim to continue teaching, both inside and outside of ICL.

Tutoring Experience

I first tutored in high school (the American equivalent of Secondary School). I taught mathematics, all natural sciences, english, and engineering to students at my high school. I also began teaching skiing to children 3-7 as well as students with developmental disabilities.
I continued in University (Dartmouth College) tutoring physics, 9 different engineering courses, and architecture. As a Head TA I wrote, proctored, and graded exams in the capstone engineering course.

Tutoring Approach

The best way to summarize my tutoring approach is to say it differs based upon the student. In my early years I struggled to apply a uniform approach to students. It was easy for me to convey the way I had learned, but difficult to help a student understand. In my time as a ski instructor, I taught students who had to learn differently. This experience opened my eyes and helped me in the academic arena of teaching.
I back all subjects that I tutor with strong foundational understanding, and I take the time to understand each student - helping them learn in the way that suits them best.
