I'm an experienced tutor with students in Bristol and online around the world. I specialise in GCSE and key stage 3 Maths and Science - crucial subjects at an important time of life. I have a personal development coaching qualification, which helps me to motivate students and give them confidence in their abilities. I have a science background but have wide interests - the arts, environment, science and society and current affairs. I spend as much time as possible out in the fresh air discovering new places.

Tutoring Experience

I've been tutoring teenagers in maths and science for over 27 years as well as being a trainer and personal development coach. I've worked with experts in Accelerated Learning and other personal development ideas and methods.

Tutoring Approach

Over the last 27+ years, I've worked with many inspirational people learning about teaching and learning methods, especially those commonly referred to under the umbrella of 'accelerated learning'. I've tried and tested many ways to help students become confident, independent learners, able to plan their time, learning quickly without forgetting, while not getting stressed. My attitude is that if a student doesn't understand something, then I'll find another way to explain. That's my job. I am very patient! Lessons can include a number of objectives: 1) keeping up to date with school work to make sure the student doesn't fall behind 2) working through the curriculum, making sure we cover everything, 3) working through past exam papers and specimen papers so that the exam are a formality. I teach face to face in Bristol and, increasingly, online for those not in Bristol.
