I am an experienced and passionate teacher with a business and languages background. I am qualified to Hons Degree level and have worked in a variety of business capacities prior to entering the teaching profession. I can speak fluent French and Italian. I began teaching because I have a deep love for working with children. I find great joy in supporting them to achieve their full potential. The privilege of helping children discover their strengths and believe in themselves is what makes this profession so incredibly rewarding for me.
I am currently working as an area cover teacher in South Lanarkshire. I have many years of experience in teaching all stages of primary school. This role has allowed me to quickly adapt to a wide variety of classroom environments and school cultures.
Since qualifying, I have worked in almost 30 schools across South Lanarkshire. This has enabled me to develop a strong and versatile teaching practice, whilst procuring a vast amount of experience in working with pupils of varying abilities, from those needing additional support to those requiring greater challenge. I have experience in planning and delivering differentiated lessons that are inclusive, engaging, and accessible to all learners.
My experience has strengthened my ability to build rapport with students and staff quickly, manage classrooms effectively, and deliver high-quality lessons at very short notice across the full primary curriculum. I am confident in maintaining consistency and continuity in pupils’ learning, even in unfamiliar settings, and I take pride in being a reliable and flexible member of any school team.
I adopt a holistic approach to teaching. I firmly believe that effective teaching goes far beyond delivering the curriculum. My approach is rooted in the understanding that every pupil is a unique individual with their own strengths, challenges and potential. I consistently strive to build strong relationships with every child I teach as I believe this is paramount before effective teaching and learning can take place. By recognising each child’s individuality and fostering a safe, supportive atmosphere, I aim to help them thrive not only in school, but in life.
