I am a composer and singer based in Oxford. My works have been performed by ensembles including the Kreutzer Quartet, Oxford Philharmonic, BBC Singers, Trio Atem and New College Choir (Oxford). I was shortlisted for the NCEM Young Composers Competition 2020, Ernest Read Symphony Orchestra’s Emerging Composers Competition 2020, Henfrey Composition Prize 2021 and was a composer for Adopt a Music Maker 2022. I studied composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and the University of Oxford. My works have been performed in the UK, Poland, France, Germany and the US.
I studied classical singing as a secondary practice for the duration of my time at Trinity Laban under Joan Rodgers C.B.E. and more recently under Cynthia Holman. I am just as at home singing earlier works as I am performing romantic and modern repertoire. I have had many years of choral singing experience, on soprano and alto, and have held choral scholar positions in Oxford and London. I am a confident soloist and recitalist and have performed all over the UK as well as abroad in the US, France and Italy. I am the current Director of Music for the Glyme Valley Churches where I sing and conduct a choir of 4-16 people in a weekly service.
I am very passionate about teaching and have worked with a range of students aged six to mature adults. I taught advanced music theory, aural skills and composition at the Peterborough Centre for Young Musicians for several years as well as privately. I have also given GCSE and A-Level tuition out of school in order to help less confident students gain their desired grades. I have many years of experience as a choral director to all ages and abilities.
I put a lot of care into planning lessons with each individual student in order that they may enjoy learning whilst reaching their full potential. I am a kind, enthusiastic and versatile teacher who wishes to inspire pupils to create, play and absorb the wide variety of music available to us today. I aim to help each student grow in confidence and independence, feeding their passions and aiding them in being a well-rounded, informed musician.
