Maths Tutoring in Orpington

I am a fully qualified Maths Tutor with 10 years of teaching experience. I Graduated from the University of Nottingham with a BCs Mathematics and now work in mathematical research. I am passionate about Teaching and have tutored students my own age and younger as early as primary school. With a background in both teaching and mathematics, I help students at any level build their mathematical ability and skills to the level they need to be. All my students make the incredible improvements that proper education brings.

I understand that many don't like mathematics, and that's okay. My approach is designed to help students improve their grades and understanding of the subject, regardless of their interest or enthusiasm. Many students continue to dislike mathematics as a subject but can still enjoy doing it.

I offer flexible tutoring options to suit your needs. Whether you prefer online sessions or in-person tutoring at your home, I am here to provide a comfortable and effective learning environment. I'm happy to teach groups of Students as well. My main goal is to ensure that you receive the highest quality of education in the most convenient way possible. One of my core principles is maintaining affordable tutoring rates - I will absolutely never raise my prices.

Tutoring Experience

My journey as a tutor began in primary school, where I started helping classmates who struggled with maths. This early experience ignited my passion for teaching and honed my ability to explain concepts in a way that makes sense to young learners. In secondary school, I officially became a maths tutor, I helped students at all levels improve their grades to a level they were happy with.

At Hinchingbrooke School, I tutored GCSE Maths and continued to expand my tutoring experience with students at various educational levels, including many of my peers. Tutoring my classmates helped me refine my techniques, allowing me to appreciate the value of peer-to-peer learning and change my teaching style accordingly.

Over the years, I have developed a knack for inspiring students to work hard, even outside our tutoring sessions. My goal is to help students understand maths but with time many students develop a genuine interest and confidence in maths that lasts well beyond our lessons.

Tutoring Approach

Confidence in mathematics is often a significant challenge for my students. My primary aim is to build this confidence, leading to improved grades and greater comfort with numbers in everyday life. I understand that each student is unique, and I tailor my lessons to meet individual needs and address specific weaknesses.

Using many different teaching styles that cater to a students learning style, I ensure an effective learning for each student specific to their needs. My goal is to create an engaging and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and exploring mathematical concepts at their own pace.

I am fully equipped to use digital whiteboards and am flexible in connecting via various online platforms, with a preference for Skype. Ensuring that students can receive high-quality tutoring regardless of their location.

To accurately identify each student's strengths and weaknesses, I have practice questions for each level of education I teach. This helps me to craft personalized learning plans that target specific areas for improvement. Students are encouraged to complete these practice questions, doing their working out on another piece of paper, and sending photos of their work for detailed feedback.
