I’m Charlie and I’m a final year Modern Languages student at King’s College London with a huge interest for languages and linguistics. I speak English at a native level and Spanish at a C1 level.
I have just returned to London (where I am currently based) from Barcelona but will return to Spain indefinitely next summer after finishing my degree to pursue a Masters in Linguistics. As a Modern Languages student I have been lucky enough to both take part and lead workshops in language learning and through my first hand experience of learning Spanish, I can apply those values to teaching English
For the last year I have worked as an online English tutor for a Spanish company, providing both individual and group classes. As part of this role I planned my own classes and delivered them several times a week. These classes had a large emphasis on reaching oral fluency but we also worked on reading a writing. I taught both beginners classes and also more advanced classes for students who were close to reaching fluency.
I personalise each class to every student and their individual needs, whether this be a more oral based learning, more reading and writing based, shorter 45 minute classes or longer 1 hour classes etc. I like to spend some time in the first class defining what the student wants to achieve and I then plan the classes accordingly to provide a personalised experience. I do genuinely believe that learning a language is enjoyable so I try and keep my classes fun, engaging and relevant to each student.
