English Lessons in Feltham

I achieved a First Class in my undergraduate degree in English from The University of Cambridge in 2021. I am passionate about disseminating my enthusiasm for English, so I have created content related to studying (English) at GCSE and A-level. I gained the moniker 'The Queen of English Lit' from my channel subscribers.

I achieved the highest academic standing in each A-Level class and was recognised as a "stand-out candidate" by the WJEC exam board in Art & Design (Photography) at AS-Level in 2016. I am a recipient of The David Thompson Prize for academic performance (Homerton College, Cambridge) and was awarded a Student Representation Award in 2020 by Homerton College, Cambridge.

My hobbies include photography, drawing, writing and reading. I enjoy visits to museums, the cinema and the theatre.

Tutoring Experience

Since 2018, I have tutored students aged 7-18 (11+, 13+, GCSE, A-level)* in English Language and Literature. I execute challenging lessons which enable me to identify individual learning needs. I then implement personalised instruction that helps tutees master existing and adopt new reading and writing skills. I have tutored up to A-level online, in-person, 1:1 and in small groups for over one hundred hours. I also have experience in preparation for Oxbridge's English admissions examination*.

As an academic mentor in a state comprehensive Secondary School's English department in 2021-2022, I worked at the challenging nexus of pupils' intellectual, emotional and social needs. I provided targeted and intensive academic support that addressed the impacts of COVID-19 school closures on pupils’ learning. I worked closely with Lampton School’s senior leadership team and English department to ensure I focused on year groups and pupils that needed the most support. After clarifying this objective, I prepared a syllabus and created and delivered course materials for the small groups of struggling KS3 and KS4 learners, 20% of whom spoke English as a second language (ESL). Many pupils also had learning disabilities, or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Tutoring Approach

As a tutor and mentor, I enjoy integrating my creative aptitude and analytical thinking, which allows me to deploy strategic, spontaneous and creative thinking that targets and ameliorates learners' weaknesses. I effectively translate and condense technical ideas - verbally and in writing. I teach with a focus on efficient exam techniques and methods for managing academic stress and anxiety.
