English and English (Foreign Language) Teacher in Bangor

I love teaching because I am passionate about finding the potential in others and developing it. Over the last 12 years I have taught in UK and abroad. I have been a senior teacher, a teacher trainer, and an assistant manager at a language school among other things.

On the Ultimate Frisbee field I have been:
Chairman of Development for Indonesia, Head Coach of the under-19 national squad, Tournament Director, League Director, and Captain, Coach, and Founder of several clubs. I have also given a Tedx talk on how this sport empowers youth, and written articles for magazines. Watch the Tedx here if you like! Removed
I also love board games, playing guitar, cooking with my wife, and experiencing new cultures, food and people.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching English in UK and internationally for the last 12 years. I have returned to my home land...
From where? India, Austria, UK, and Indonesia.
Doing what? KS3, GCSE, EFL, IGCSE, IB, IELTS, Business English, Global Perspectives, essay/thesis writing, persuasive writing, formal reports, speeches, creative writing, reading skills, writing analysis, public speaking coaching, and more!
With who? Ages 6 and up. Mostly 14-16 year olds, and adults. My students' IGCSE results were a lot higher than the world average.
Anything else? Yes, I have experience writing and delivering speeches for Tedx and the US embassy, and getting articles published in magazines.

Tutoring Approach

Every student has different skills, learning styles, and needs, so I cater my tuition to the student. I have used the IB style with great success. It has a focus on skills first, a lot of communication, critical thinking, discussion, and always asking 'why' and 'how', not only 'what'. When skills are developed, the content (in ANY subject) becomes a lot easier to learn, and more interesting. For example, when we learn how and why persuasive language works, it gets easier and more fun to try it. We have a lot of fun in class and I aim to engage the student as much as possible, so he/she gets the most out of it. We collaborate so we avoid a 'teacher vs student' mentality. Let's do it!
