I am a qualified primary teacher with over 25 years’ teaching experience in the UK and internationally. My in-depth subject knowledge enables me to plan and deliver personalised learning. I build student agency; engaging, motivating, and ensuring positive outcomes and results for your child. The lessons I deliver have a strong focus on helping children realise their potential and make improvements. I pride myself on building caring, personalised relationships; giving students the confidence to learn from mistakes and make progress.
My teaching and tutoring experience extends across the full primary range from Year 1 through to Year 6 with students from a diverse range of abilities and cultural backgrounds. In addition to being a classroom teacher, I have provided professional 1:1 tutoring to students at the international schools I have worked for. I have taught English and mathematics to primary aged students, helping to extend able students as well as support those needing additional catch-up. I have extensive experience teaching online gained as a result of my tutoring practice and through online learning in my role as class teacher during school lockdowns.

My extensive experience as a teacher alongside my professional development and research ensure that I promote student-centred and interactive learning. I receive consistently positive feedback in lesson observations from senior managers at my schools, and from parents on pupil attitudes; positive interactions; and effective learning behaviours.
My tutoring sessions are personally designed after consultation with parents covering learning outcomes and needs. Each session involves opportunities for your child to speak, listen and engage actively in the session. I carefully scaffold teaching so that I begin with high levels of direct instruction (this allows children to observe and learn from any new teaching content) and progresses towards less teacher instruction (giving children more opportunities to practise and engage with greater confidence). Every session is contextualised and real-life links are made to a child’s own experiences, helping them to make meaningful connections. I maximise opportunities for speaking and listening; teaching of new skills; and opportunities to practise, ask questions and revise. I actively modify my session as it progresses; being fully responsive to the child.
I make use of ICT and interactive tools to support my teaching and only where it maximises learning for the child so they are motivated, engaged and challenged in their learning. I develop in them the confidence to ask questions and say if they are unsure. Having taught students from diverse backgrounds, I am sensitive towards the needs arising from their social and cultural diversity.
Above all, I believe in the importance of student well-being and pastoral care as the greatest influence on a student’s success. My aim is to ensure every child has a voice, and feels happy, safe and valued. With close communication with both child and parents, I ensure every child makes progress and realises their potential.
