My Name is Clara and I am a 33 year old native English speaker. I am an English and Drama teacher in an Ofsted outstanding secondary school in Kingston (TIFFIN school). I also hold a BA Hons degree in English Literature and Drama from The University of Manchester (2:1, 2012) and a Trinity College Certificate in TESOL (Teaching of English to speakers of other languages). I have had years experience teaching both EFL and National Curriculum to various demographics and had managerial experience.
Prior to this, I was a Teacher Team Leader of a language school called Wall Street English Institute in Bangkok, Thailand which involved me teaching EFL to a wide demographic group.
Previous to that employment, I worked as a Literacy Learning Support Assistant in a secondary modern comprehensive school in South Wales.
I have good communication skills and strong academic credentials, which I feel are essential to becoming a good tutor and teacher. I have always enjoyed studying and have gained good exam results from GCSE to undergraduate degree level. However, I could not have achieved without tutors that helped me throughout the process. I received excellent teaching myself (both from teachers and tutors) and would love to pass on the passion I have experienced to future generations.
Currently, I am an English and secondary school teacher in Kingston (TIFFIN school). I teach English up to KS5 level. I teach AQA examination boards for both subjects and OCR for A level English. I attend subject exam board courses, to ensure my pupils are successful. I also mark for AQA examinations
My teaching experience is varied both tutoring 1:1 and lecturing more than 30 students in various different settings. Previously, I have tutored over 20 pupils. Specifically through this website, I have tutored over 10 students in English Literature or Language GCSE or A Level. Considering the limited time space, they all improved their grades by two marks (from C grade to A and D grade to B).2-
I can travel to the tutee but there will be an extra charge of £10. I can tutor on a one to one basis and in small groups (max 4). At the moment, online tutoring works best for both myself and the tutee. I will discuss with the tutee what they would like to achieve and work with them to achieve the best that they can. I work on directly what the tutee wants to achieve and try my best to support and aid them in their work. I work with how the tutee works best and plan and organise my lessons effectively. I try to create a warm and friendly atmosphere so that the work is taught effectively and that we can communicate clearly with one another.
