Previously an academic researcher in clinical trials I have also worked in the chemical industry designing processes for pharmaceutical ingredients and in hospitals designing pharmacy databases. I now work in Research Governance specialising in research ethics and research integrity. My real-world experience in applied biology and chemistry gives me an eye for detail which complements the 'bare bones' approach often taught in local schools and further enhances the tutee's understanding of the subject.
Over the last 30 years I have provided workshops, practical sessions, one-to-one tuition and educational presentations to children as young as 10 and adults as old as 60.
It is not enough to learn the work, a student needs to understand the work and use it effectively in examinations by for example putting the facts in a logical order and knowing when to give a brief answer or when give a more detailed response. In my lessons we start with the syllabus and identify the topics the student needs to improve their knowledge on. We work with these according to the student's preferred study method. I provide past paper questions for the student to work on both in the lessons and in their own time and where necessary explain and go over the model answers with them. Whilst I charge more than most tutors I think my results with students speak for themselves.
