Hello! My name is Dan. I've recently made the move to Norwich to begin my studies as a Masters student at UEA in Creative Writing. I am available to help tutor students from years 7 to 13 in English, as well as Drama, Theatre Studies and Classical Civilisation.
In early days at school, I often felt that I was far more capable than my grades were demonstrating. If it wasn't for outstanding teacher's and tutors who cared about my education and aimed to make the subject accessible and even enjoyable, my experience would have been very different. As a neurodivergent student myself, I am highly aware of the unique challenges that mainstream education can bring to neurodivergent students. Throughout my own education, I discovered numerous techniques to help me stay on top of my learning which I can hopefully pass on!
I worked as a teaching assistant within the drama department of Box Hill School for just under a year.
I volunteered as a student mentor at sixth form college where I assisted younger students in staying on top of their classes.
I also taught Tae Kwon Do for three years to Key Stage Three pupils throughout my time at secondary school.
Every student is different. My aim will simply be to facilitate whatever the individual student needs to achieve their desired grade.
As somebody with ADHD, I know that school doesn't always do the best job of making the course accessible to neurodivergent students. I feel that identification with the student and their passions and ideas are really important in creating a holistic environment in which to learn.
