Home Tuition for Maths and Physics in Nottingham

I am a professional and experienced tutor, currently taking bookings for the summer break, university admission and admissions tests (MAT, PAT, TMUA, STEP) and the academic year 24/25.

I hold a masters degree from St Catharine's College Cambridge in Applied Mathematics and a BSc from the University of Warwick in Mathematics and Physics.

I also work as a support worker for a charity in the homelessness sector. This work provides me with opportunities to develop my communication skills which translate well to tuition. Through this work I hold an enhanced DBS certificate that can be shown on request.

Tutoring Experience

I worked as a full-time professional tutor throughout the academic year 23/24, through which I gained hundreds of hours of 1:1 lesson time with students between GCSE and undergraduate level, both in person and online.

I have experience tutoring A-level Mathematics and Further Mathematics, including major exam boards such as AQA, Edexcel and OCR.

I am looking to develop and expand my tutoring business as we head towards the academic year 24/25.

Tutoring Approach

For online tuition I prefer to set up a Discord server with the student. This allows us to discuss problems across a continual chat, and allows me to typeset mathematics with LaTeX via a TeX bot. I also offer tuition via other online platforms (Teams, Zoom etc) for those with other preferences.

I find that sending students problems throughout the week to think about before we solve them together in a call on an collaborative whiteboard is the most effective approach.

There is also great value in working through past papers together, particularly for those students with imminent examinations. I can offer this online but find it generally to be more productive in person.

As your tutor I am happy to discuss problems set with you throughout the week between our sessions, along with providing advice in other areas such as university admissions. I also offer to mark questions you have solved in your own time, or past papers you sat under exam conditions as revision.
