Online Maths and Physics Lessons

Now a business owner based out of Chiswick and working in different places, I graduated from Durham University with a Masters Degree in Physics in Physics and Astronomy in 2012. I am passionate about the Sciences and Mathematics and igniting enthusiasm for these subjects in young people.

Originally from Carlisle in the North West, at a young age I was granted a full scholarship to Windermere St Annes School (now The Windermere School) where I excelled academically eventually leaving with 5 A Levels (Physics, Maths, Spanish, Chemistry, Latin (AS)) and a National BTEC certificate in musical performance).

Tutoring Experience

I am currently a mentor with the Outward Bound Trust and due to the nature of my career this allows me to engage the students in my designated school (Bexleyheath academy) in a range of activities associated with Chemistry. In particular the expected knowledge of practical experiments at A level are addressed by bringing students into our R&D facilities and going through some of the experiments mentioned in the syllabus.

Recently I brought a student up to a passing grade in GCSE maths where they had failed previously in my home town of Carlisle. This was an intensive crash course (1 month- up to 4 hours study a day) and saw great benefits.

I have also taught students a number of musical instruments in the past, this was part of my service for the Duke of Edinburgh award. I am a percussionist and have teaching experience on a variety of percussion instruments and with a variety of age groups.

Tutoring Approach

I believe the best way to learn is to experience the material that needs to be digested in entertaining and demonstrably imaginative ways. It has been shown that emotional links to material ignite not only better engagement in pupils but also better recollection and therefore I take the approach of trying to bring the syllabus and the particular material to life so that the tutee or student can experience the subject or material in a multi-sensory way.
