My name is Dave and I live in North Yorkshire, England. I have 10 years experience working within Primary Schools. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time in the outdoors. This includes activities such as walking, hiking, running, cycling. I love to travel and have taught in International Schools oversees in the Middle East and China for 4 years.
I have 10 years experience working in Primary Schools. I began my journey as a Teaching Assistant in 2013 after graduating from University Central Lancashire with a degree in Sports Development. In 2015, I completed my School Centred Initial Teacher Training with an outstanding teacher training provider. This was accredited through Northumbria University. My first teaching post was at a National Teaching School, where I taught across Year 1, Year 2 and Year 5. Alongside this role I was also the Lead Teacher for PE and School Sport, something I am extremely passionate about. In 2018 I decided to travel and teach abroad, which initially took me to Oman in the Middle East. I taught at an International School here for two years, mainly teaching students with English as an Additional Language. My journey then took me to China in 2020, where I taught at an International School in the city of Ningbo, Zhejiang province. I taught children in Year 5 and 6 and gained rich experiences working with English as an Additional Language Students. In this post I also taught children who were looking to study abroad and supported them with entrance exam practice for schools across Asia, Europe and America. More recently, I have taught Year 5 in a Primary School back in the UK. I am now looking to broaden my experiences and share my vast teaching expertise through tutoring.
I am a patient practitioner who always focuses on ensuring my students' needs are met. I like to use assessment strategies to identify areas for improvement for all learners and can plan tailored lessons to ensure all students make excellent progress. I place huge importance on getting to know my learners' passions and interests, so that lessons can be made fun and suited towards their particular interests. I have excellent understanding of the UK National Curriculum and can tailor my sessions alongside what learners are studying in school if this is necessary.
