I have taught mathematics in Leeds for 30 years. I have tutored for over ten of them. I never stop thinking of ways that will help students to understand mathematics and to remember what they have learnt. I really enjoy watching students confidence grow, along with their ability and grades.

Tutoring Experience

I usually tutor face to face, but can tutor online if required. I teach GCSE Higher and Foundation Maths and Level 2 Further Maths having previously taught A-level Maths and Further Maths. I am an exam marker for Edexcel / Pearson and have been so for 10 years which gives me a great understanding of what is needed to pass the exams.
I currently teach in a good comprehensive school in Leeds.

Tutoring Approach

I pride myself on giving very clear explanations. I like to explain examples, then get students to have a go so that I can see how they are doing and what they are thinking. I use constant questioning to check understanding. I use diagnostic questions and quizzes. I aim to get the students doing lots of questions that build up in difficulty to assess understanding.
