I am an excellent teacher practitioner of English GCSE/Alevel, and IELTS, TOFEL, B1-C2 to the upscale Chinese market. With over 22 years teaching at Claires Court Schools under my belt, a good English degree from a prestigious British university and a Secondary English teaching qualification as well as over 17 years examining experience, I can offer a top quality service with a guaranteed outcome.

About myself: I am a mother of four (now all out in the world), a yoga teacher and a meditator. So now I have the time to share my skills to all those pupils who need some focussed, specialised expert English attention and activate some deep learning. Tutoring Experience

I teach English Language and Literature at GCSE (AQA/Edexcel/OCR) and Literature up to A level . Plus I specialise in working with high achieving, academic Chinese students working towards UKiset, UK elite schools common entrance exams and IELTS 6+

Since 2000, I have examined English Language and Literature for a national exam boards (Cambridge, AQA, Edexcel) at both GCSE and A Level.

In addition, I tutor 11Plus and Common Entrance; we cover general reading, comprehension, vocabulary building, and creative/persuasive writing. I have extensive experience of preparing youngsters for these milestones; they are such a lovely age to teach - full of openness and enthusiasm. Specialist focussed expert teaching at this age gives a lasting academic boost at an influential stage in your child's school career.

I have also been in charge of an A English Literature level paper and I was involved with A English Level exam coursework moderation. (AQA and Cambridge) for 15 years.

English is the key to success in all subjects at all levels and it is vital to develop these comprehension and language skills at as early an age as possible.

Tutoring Approach

I am an expert tutor with a track record of success and 30 years of examining and teaching. I truly enjoy teaching and every lesson is a joy - so I feel very blessed - my vocation is my vacation!

I have a series of references from past and current students of all levels to verify this. I have increased results at A level from D to A and at GCSE I have a track record of getting very under performing students through with a pass at least.
Many of my GCSE students go on to achieve level 9 from significantly lower predictions.

I have solid experience with SEN especially Dyslexia and Aspergers. One of my home-schooled students with Aspergers has just been accepted to study medicine at Oxford. What a joy!
Recently I have moved towards working with high value Chinese's families to tutor their students individually to acquire objective proficiency in English as a second language to successfully enter Uk schools such as Wycombe Abbey, Eton, Wellington and others.I offer this online in the morning (BST) to the Chinese mainland. We study IELTS and Ukiset plus CEFR plus B1-C2 and TOFEL. Every lesson contains grammar, extensive reading, sophisticated listening texts and writing plus conversation - all individually tailored to the pupil's level and personality.
Overall, my philosophy is to make tutoring fun and a deep learning experience. Via my English as a second language classes, we can roam across subjects as diverse as the function of music to the analysis of Ozymandias via climate change and Romanticism. We always focus on reading and extrapolate the other skills from there.Without a reading habit, it is very difficult to develop the attendant skills of writing/comprehension and speaking articulately. I will , if at all possible, let the pupils guide me in his or her interests and/or we will supplement what they are doing at school.

Home schooling :
I home schooled a family in Luxembourg - the two daughters took A level English and the son took IGCSE English Language and Literature - all tuition was online. It was a huge success!
