Home Tuition for Latin in Cambridge

I'm Ed, an enthusiastic and experienced Classics teacher at both prep and secondary level. I have taught Latin and Ancient Greek for over a decade at a range of independent prep and senior schools. I have also held a variety of senior pastoral positions, from Head of Year to Housemaster & Head of Boarding, and therefore I understand that there is more to being a good tutor than simply teaching the necessary material.

I continue to teach Latin and Ancient Greek at one of Cambridge's leading prep schools, and in my spare time I enjoy reading, running, and walking my cocker spaniel.

Tutoring Experience

I graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Classics in 2013, and have been teaching ever since; I also hold a PGCE. For most of my career to date, I've worked at one of Cambridge's leading prep schools, and have successfully prepared dozens of pupils for local school entrance exams and Common Entrance at 13+.

I have also prepared a large number of pupils for a range of top scholarship exams, including the King's Scholarship at Eton, the Queen's Scholarship at Westminster, the Election at Winchester, and many more, including Oundle, Uppingham, Haileybury, Radley, and Stowe.

Tutoring Approach

I prepare each of my tutees entirely as individuals. There is no universal approach to tutoring, and each tutee ought to be prepared in a way that works to improve their own specific areas of weakness in a patient and positive manner. I understand the level of academic rigour required to prepare tutees for Common Entrance and scholarship exams, and I seek to encourage this within my tutees by way of a kind and supportive approach.

As a first step, I would be very happy to have an initial meeting or phone call to discuss how I might best be able to help.

Please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'd be delighted to hear from you!
