Private Online Psychology Tutor

I have been working as an educator for over 6 years, teaching across a range of SCQF levels from 5 - 11. I am currently programme lead for the National 5 and Higher senior phase delivery of psychology for the University of the Highlands and Islands, but also teach across a range of undergraduate and postgraduate course too such as research methods, individual differences and forensic psychology. My current research examines bias within legal decision-making and the criminal justice system. My main research interest and specialism is jury decision-making, most recently within rape trials. I am eager to advance this research by examining the attitudes that underpin gender-based violence.

Tutoring Experience

Over the past six years, I have gained extensive teaching experience across various esteemed institutions. At the University of the West of Scotland, I served as a Lecturer and module coordinator for the BA Business Management program, where I designed and delivered comprehensive course content. Concurrently, I held the role of Programme Lead for the Accelerated HNC/HND Social Science at West Lothian College, overseeing curriculum development and student progression. At present , I am programme leader for the senior phase psychology programmes at the university of Highlands and Islands (UHI) and lecture in Psychology at both the University of the West of Scotland and UHI degree programmes , where I engaged students through innovative teaching methods and facilitated a deeper understanding of psychological principles. This diverse experience has honed my skills in curriculum design, student engagement, and interdisciplinary teaching.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching approach centers on creating an inclusive, dynamic, and engaging learning environment where every student feels valued and empowered. I emphasise a student-centered methodology, encouraging active participation and fostering critical thinking through interactive discussions and collaborative projects where possible. By integrating technology and real-world applications into the curriculum, I aim to make learning relevant and exciting. I prioritise understanding each student's unique strengths and challenges, tailoring my instruction to meet diverse learning needs. Continuous feedback and supportive mentorship are key components, ensuring that students not only grasp the material but also develop confidence and a lifelong love for learning.
