Ella

Maths and Chemistry Lessons in Staines

Hello! I'm Ella, a 22 year-old Masters graduate looking to share my knowledge and help students understand tricky science and maths topics. I finished my GCSE's with 9's in maths, chemistry and biology and attained 3A*'s at A-Level. This means I have lots of useful tips for revision and remembering content. I love reading and music and enjoy sharing and receiving recommendations!

Tutoring Experience

I have privately tutored two students in the past, helping them both towards their GCSE's through revision and homework help, and reiterating the content in a more digestible fashion. I was with the second student for around 6 months during his Year 11. During my third year of university, I took part in a project in which I planned and taught a biology lesson to a Year 13 A-Level class, learning about teaching styles and student learning experiences. This gave me a great insight into how to effectively teach students.
Despite not having a huge experience with tutoring, I work well with young adults and believe that my teaching style is more relatable with students compared with older teachers. Throughout my time in education I often helped friends or family with homework and understanding content.

Tutoring Approach

I take a relaxed yet enthusiastic approach to teaching content. I believe it's very important to relate to the students and share useful 'shorcuts' to understanding and remembering information. I will first identify which areas need help and gather relevant resources. These resources will be a combination of reading recommendations, videos, help sheets, mindmaps, and practise questions of varying complexity. Each meeting will consist of revising content and practising questions in a tailored manner. I take a versatile approach to each student's ability and requirements for each session and can sometimes help with homework or mark attempted questions.
