I am a friendly and approachable individual, who enjoys helping children to learn and challenge themselves, whilst helping their confidence to grow. I enjoy travelling, time in the outdoors and I'm outgoing. I can use these attributes to help children engage and be motivated in their learning. I work flexible hours, therefore can work according to your timetable.
I have QTS and took my PGCE at University College London. During my PGCE, I attended two school placements where I learnt about the most up-to -date approaches to teaching primary school children. I learnt how to inspire children in the classroom and how to encourage their love of learning. After my PGCE, I worked as a Year 2 teacher for two years. During my second year I was Year Group Lead, taking on more responsibility. As a Year Two teacher, I am able to help children progress academically and personally. I am able to help children establish their intrinsic motivation and strive to reach their potential. I can help children with their reading (including phonics), writing (SPAG and writing pieces in different genres) and maths (at any primary school level). I can also help children with their handwriting and fine motor skills. During my time as a teacher, I was able to provide individualised intervention to children who required it and progress was recorded in their work. I have experience in behaviour management and use of positive reinforcement. I can plan creative and engaging lessons, helping children to have fun whilst they learn! I have experience in running after school clubs and sporting events.
Currently, I nanny for a family a few times a week. I have experience with school pick-up, meal prep and homework. I have also been helping the eldest prepare for his school entrance exams.
I believe establishing positive relationships are key in helping children learn as it means I can get to know them well and can discover their likes and dislikes. A positive relationship means I can develop a strong understanding of the way they learn and can provide an individualised education, which they find engaging and fun! I believe a calm approach is crucial in creating a good learning environment for children where there is mutual respect. I am able to use positive reinforcement to uphold high standards of learning and behaviour. My approach is kind, patient and understanding and I will help children to feel intrinsically motivated to strive to reach their potential and beyond!
