I am currently studying Physics with Astronomy at the University of Nottingham, combining my strong analytical and problem solving skills with a passion for understanding. Prior to this, I earned a Diploma of Higher Education in Business Management, Finance, and Accounting from Nottingham Trent University, giving me a solid foundation in maths, sciences and the financial world. I also hold A-Levels in Mathematics, Economics and Business.
I feel a real sense of achievement when I am able to help others understand concepts or solve problems, and I am enthusiastic about helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals.
I have tutored four students across a full academic year, supporting them in a range of subjects and levels. Each student improved their predicted grades by at least two levels, reflecting both their hard work and the effectiveness of our sessions.
I have experience tutoring GCSE Physics, GCSE Maths and English, Secondary school level Maths and A-Level Maths. These experiences have helped me develop a flexible, student-focused tutoring style, with a balance between focusing on deep conceptual understanding and exam technique. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, and growing in confidence.
My teaching style is adaptive and conversational, with a strong focus on building a supportive environment where students feel comfortable engaging with the material. I tailor each session to the individual, recognising that every student learns differently. For example, I’ve worked with students with ADHD, offering regular breaks and flexible explanations to keep sessions productive and accessible.
When a student struggles with a topic, I break it down into manageable steps and use repetition to reinforce understanding. I aim to strike a balance between conceptual clarity and exam technique, helping students not just memorise content, but truly understand it and apply it effectively under exam conditions.
During exam season, I offer past paper practise to sharpen exam technique and familiarity with question formats. I don’t tend to follow rigid lesson plans, instead I trust my ability to adapt in real time to meet the student’s needs and make the most of each session.
