Online Chemistry and Biology Lessons

Hello! I'm Emily, a second year undergraduate studying Biomedical Sciences at the University of Edinburgh. I studied Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A-level and achieved 3 As. I also achieved all Grade 9s at GCSE, including in Maths, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, English, Music and Spanish. I am also a keen violin player, reaching Grade 8 in my penultimate year of school.

I can empathise with the various challenges current students are facing due to my recent experience of the exam system. This allows me to relate to my students in order to offer personalised academic assistance in an understanding way.

Outside of tutoring, I enjoy playing hockey, playing my violin and spending quality time with my dogs.

Tutoring Experience

I have privately tutored GCSE Chemistry, Biology and Maths, and am currently building my practice teaching KS2-3 and CGSE.

Tutoring Approach

Each lesson is personalised to the specific student, depending on their individual needs, level and learning style.

A typical lesson starts by delving into a topic using diagrams and discussion, meaning I can gauge the student's prior grasp on the subject and recognise gaps in their understanding. This enables me to focus my teaching where it is needed and ensure that the student is comfortable with all aspects of the specification.

We'll then move on to exam-style questions with a joint approach, depending on how much guidance the student requires at their stage of learning.

Finally, we will review the lesson, consolidating new concepts that have been covered and identifying any areas where there are still gaps to be bridged.
