I am a friendly, approachable tutor with an honours degree in English from the University of Strathclyde and a master's degree in Creative Writing from Trinity College Dublin. I also hold a Gold Standard NCTJ in Multimedia Journalism.

In my working life, I am a professional, award-winning author who understands what makes an outstanding story. I am also a professional journalist with almost a decade's experience.

I am therefore not only able to tutor English, but I can provide excellent advice on creative writing portfolios for national qualifications as well as journalism portfolios. I also hold a PVG from Disclosure Scotland for your peace of mind.

Tutoring Experience

I have experience teaching English in a Scottish high school and have successfully tutored a number of students for national qualifications. I have also taught undergraduate students creative writing. Most importantly, I have successfully tutored students who have obtained As at National 5 (GCSE) level in Scotland.

I have plenty of resources which we can work through to help you improve your English, but the majority of my tutees ask for help with specific areas such as close reading or critical essays. Ultimately, I am here to help you work on your weaknesses and develop your strengths.
