I currently work part time as a Psychology teacher in a local school. I first starting teaching in 1995 before taking a break to try out different careers before returning to teaching in 2011. I enjoy developing resources and activities to help students understand both the content of the course but also the necessary skills to do well in exams. I am a patient, experienced teacher who is good at adapting to the needs of the student.
I have worked in secondary education since 2011 and prior to that worked in two different colleges so have lots of experience teaching Psychology, particularly at A level. Most recently I have taught the AQA specification.
Over the years, I have also held two positions as Head of Department (12 years in total).
My approach centres around the needs of the student by identifying where their areas for development lie and then tailoring lessons to address these. I will use a variety of resources including booklets, revision resources and power-points, and will provide effective feedback on work produced. Understanding the course content is important but knowing what the exam board wants in answers to questions, ie: the skill set, is also a vital part of working towards the exams - I can help with that too.
